About UsWhere the Mississippi and Bad Axe rivers converge in Wisconsin, Rivers of rubber images flow from the pen of artist Christine Hall and her Bad Axe Trading Co. Offering Designs of river life and environments, this new stamp company is sure to satisfy the needs of those looking for scenic imagery with a casual flair. The American Queen, that stately paddleboat with two smokestacks, is represented in rubber sized large enough to work well by itself with a greeting card. Images of the Delta Queen and Mississippi Queen riverboats are also available, as are towboat, pontoon, and houseboat images. A close up of a paddlewheel is particularly revealing, recalling the easy going days of Mark Twain. River critters as designs, of course! are crawling across the pages of this catalog. They include an otter, a great blue heron and a turtle, in addition to the "wee life" like a snail, a mudpuppy, clams and a dragonfly. Close to the shore are images of flora such as cattails, an arrowhead plant and morel mushrooms. Step ashore and in delight in a large stamp of the New Orleans riverfront. Further inland, you'll find charming images of a field of corn shocks, a wishing well and a striking silhoutte of an Amish buggy on a country road. Images of a flower basket on a lamppost, a heart wreath and spring holly lend a domestic air to this bucolic scene. Oh, did you notice a squirrel darting around a tree or peregrine falcon soaring overhead? Yes they are here too. Holiday stamps include pumpkins in a wagon, a flying ghost, friendly snow figures and santa with a gentle look of compassion on his face. Artist Hall loves calligraphy with some images, and she offers greetings like "Happy Harvest" with a tiny leaf sailing over the phrase. Not surprisingly, quotes by Mark Twain and sentiments like "May your heart be as light as the spray from an ol' paddlewheel" are available too. Sample stamps made for assured stamping. As for copyright issues, the company allows hand-stamped commercial activity. Just around the river bend, you'll find Bad Axe Trading Co. and their pleasantly rustic, all-original images of outdoor life. Excerpt from Rubber Stamp Madness May/ June issue.
